Adding Households

A household consists of one or more people. People can be paired into couples. Individual people and couples are listed as Names within that household. Each household can have an unlimited number of names, plus an unlimited number of addresses, phones, and emails associated with the names (people and couples.)

A household can have certain attributes. Some of these are built-in, like Do Not Mail and Do Not Call flags. You can also add user defined fields to households, and you can add tags. Household attributes, including user-defined fields and tags, appear on the top section of the Profile view of the Bio tab.

There are two ways to add a new household: Quick Add and Advanced Add.

1. The Quick Add screen allows you to create a household with one or two names, one address, three phone numbers, one email address, plus household attributes and tags. It is intended as a way to quickly add names when you do not have very much detailed information.
2. The Advanced Add screen takes you through 5 steps where you can add any number of names to the household, adding tags and user defined fields to each name and/or couple. You can also add an unlimited number of addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.

There are several ways to get to the screen where you can add a household. Once you are on the Add Household screen, you can decide if you wish to use the Quick Add version or the Advanced Add. There is a button that takes you from one to the other.

From the Quick Add navigator, click on Household.

From the Search screen, after searching for a name, click on Add if you don't find the household you are looking for.
