Mailing Method
Each household and organization is marked with its mailing method preference: regular mail or email. This preference is used in the New Mailing screen to determine whether a particular mailing should be sent via email or should generate a printed letter.
If you select both a letter template and an email template in the same mailing, the mailing method is used to decide which name gets which template type.
There may be times, however, when you wish to ignore this preference and send everyone on the recipient list either a printed letter or an email, regardless of their preference.
Whenever you run a mailing in which you have selected only a letter template or only an email template, you are asked what to do, with the following choices:
- Send everyone the letter (or email) regardless of their preference.
- Do not send this mailing to names who prefer the other method.
- Use the template to send both letters and emails, depending on preferred mailing method. In other words, if this is a letter template, use it to send an email to those whose mailing method is email, or if this is an email template, print it as if it were a letter for those who prefer regular mail.
