Vertical Response Interface Tab

The Vertical Response Interface tab is found under the Interfaces Navigator. It consists of three sub tabs:

Lists

The left side of the Lists sub tab displays a list of all of the email lists at Vertical Response that are associated with your Vertical Response account. If you click on one of the lists, you can see all of the names and email addresses that are part of that list. From this tab you can create new lists, add names and email addresses to existing lists and delete lists.

There are four buttons on this tab:

  1. New - create a new list name. This creates an empty list at Vertical Response.
  2. Send Local List - use one of your ExceedFurther lists to create a new list at Vertical Response or add names and email addresses to an existing list. To send a list of names and email addresses from ExceedFurther to Vertical Response, do the following:
  1. Using one of the Quick Lists from the People and Orgs navigator, create a list of names and email addresses.
  2. Open the Vertical Response Interface tab and log in to Vertical Response.
  3. Click on the Send Local List button.
  4. Select the list you just created from the list of lists on the left.

  5. Verify that the names are the ones you wish to use.
  6. Click on Save.
  7. If you wish to create a new list at Vertical Response, select Create New List and type in a name for your list.
  8. If you wish to add these names to an existing list at Vertical Response, click on Add to an Existing List and select the list from the drop down.
  9. Click on Save.
  1. Edit - edits the name of a list at Vertical Response. Select the list first and then click on Edit.
  2. Delete - deletes the selected list from Vertical Response. Select the list first and then click on Delete.

Contacts

This tab displays a list of all contact names and addresses at Vertical Response. Even if a name and address are on multiple lists at Vertical Response, the name appears only once in this list.

The overall status of this name is also available in the grid. You can use this status to make an email address as Do Not Mail or add a mailing tag.

NOTE: this list downloads only 500 names at a time from Vertical Response. Even though it says "Showing 1 to 500 of 500 entries", that does not mean that you only have 500 entries at Vertical Response. You can use the Get Next 500 Records to see each 500-name segment of your entire contact list.

The Contact tab includes five buttons. Note that the first two buttons make changes to the names and addresses stored at Vertical Response. The last two buttons make changes to the names and addresses stored in ExceedFurther.

  1. Edit - this allows you to update a specific name and email address in your Vertical Response list by following these steps:
  1. Select the contact from the list.
  2. Click on the Edit button.
  3. Make any changes to the name or email address.
  4. Click on Save.
    1. The name and email address are updated in all lists at Vertical Response.
    2. Note: the name and email address are not updated in ExceedFurther.
  1. Opt-Out - this will mark a name and email address at Vertical Response as opted out from all lists.
  2. Note: the name and email address in ExceedFurther is not marked as Do Not Email. Use the Do Not Email button to make changes to the contact in ExceedFurther.
  3. Get Next 500 Records - this downloads the next group of 500 names and addresses from Vertical Response.
  4. Add Email Tag - this allows you to select a group of contact names and add an ExceedFurther mailing tag to each one.
  5. Do Not Email- this allows you to select a group of contact names and email addresses and mark them as Do Not Email in ExceedFurther. Note that you can choose to either mark the email address itself or the entire household or organization.

Responses

When you send an email to a list of contacts through Vertical Response, Vertical Response keeps track of the results. You may wish to update your records in ExceedFurther based on these responses.

The Responses tab shows a list of your Vertical Response Campaigns. A Campaign is a mailing defined through Vertical Response.

Note: only 10 campaigns are downloaded at a time. Use the Get Next 10 Records to see the next 10 campaigns.

For each Campaign in the list, you can see how the recipients responded to the mailing. For each response, you can see a count of recipients. By clicking on the count, you can open a new window that displays a list of contacts and allows you to update your ExceedFurther records as follows:

  1. Bounces - these are the contacts where the email bounced. For these contacts you can do the following:
