Mailing Overview
Letters, email, labels and envelopes are generally created in ExceedFurther by first creating a template containing the text and data (merge) fields that are part of the letter. You can then use these templates in several places to generate the letters and email.
You can also write and send an email to a single recipient without a template by selecting an email address from a list or profile screen.
Finally, you can use a third party to create and send a mass email or postcard mailing. If you are sending an email to a large number of names, more than about 50, you should consider using a bulk email provider rather than sending these emails directly from ExceedFurther. You will have more flexibility in handling bounces and unsubscribes, and likely better delivery results. ExceedFurther can interface with both Constant Contact and Vertical Response.
Using a template, you can create letters, email and labels from several places in ExceedFurther:
- From the Communications Navigator by selecting New Mailing. This opens the Mailing tab where you can choose from the full range of available template types.
- From the Mail Icon on the Icon bar. This opens the Mailing tab but it may restrict the type of mailing you can create, depending on what tab is open when you click on the icon. For example, if you are viewing a list of gifts, you can only run a general mailing or a mailing that includes gift information. You would not generate a volunteer mailing from a gift list, for example.
- From various buttons on the manager screens, as shown below. From the Managers, you select the records to include in the mailing and then click on the button shown. This opens the Mailing tab with the corresponding template type selected.
