How to Add an Auto Pay Pledge
An Auto Pay Pledge is a pledge where the donor has agreed that the payments can be made by automatically charging a credit card or by an electronic fund transfer each time a pledge payment is due. When you create an Auto Pay Pledge, you specify how the payments are going to be processed. The payments are then managed through the Recurring Payments Manager.
Auto Pay Pledges may be created when a donor uses your online giving page to create a pledge. You can also create an Auto Pay Pledge within Exceed Further.
To add a Auto Pay Pledge using the Add Gift window, do the following:
- Follow the steps for adding a gift, selecting Pledge as the Gift Type and filling in all of the fields related to the pledge except for the Pledge Frequency Setup parameters.
- In the Pledge Frequency Setup area, click on the Auto Pay check box.
- Select the payment processor that is going to handle the automatic payments for this pledge.
- Select the Payment Method.
- Fill in the Pledge Frequency Setup parameters to create the payment schedule.
- Save the pledge.
When you save the Auto Pay Pledge, a recurring payment template is created and placed in the Recurring Payments Manager. As payments are processed and you use the Add to Gift button on the Recurring Transactions tab to create gift records, those payments are recorded as pledge payments against this pledge.
